Spain coach Domingo Diaz admits the defeat by Lithuania in the opening match of the EuroBasket Women is a cause for concern.
The Spanish are looking to emulate the success of the last two EuroBaskets, where the side won bronze medals on both occasions.
However, this year's competition in Turkey got off to the worst possible start for Spain with a 74-69 defeat to their Baltic opponents.
"We played all the match on the back foot although we went into the last quarter with a gap of only four," said Diaz.
"Then against their attack we managed a great defence but they managed an unexpected triple from nine metres. From that play on we had nerves and anxiety."
Diaz admits the pressure is now on them to win their next Group B match against Romania on Saturday and ensure passage past the first stage.
"We need to beat Romania now because if not then it will make reaching the quarter-finals a lot more complicated," Diaz continued.
"We have to lift our spirits now ahead of that match and the players are very down."
