Czech Republic: Gambrinus Wary Of Bibrzycka Factor

06.12.2005

Gambrinus Liga Brno are gearing up for their second EuroLeague Women showdown with Lotos Gdynia and their superstar guard Agnieszka Bibrzycka.

The Polish international poured in 29 in the first meeting between the two sides, an 81-62 win for Gambrinus at the beginning of November.

She has averaged 19.5 points in the competition so far.

"Gdynia have already lost three games at home in the competition but I do not think they are a bad team," Gambrinus coach Jan Bobrovsky said.

"We had a lot of problems beating them when we played there but, on the other hand, we should win if we put in a good performance.

"The most important thing is to stop Bibrycka."

Gambrinus, runners-up to Volgaburmash last season, hold top spot in Group B with a 5-1 record.

They surrendered their 100% record in Group B last week after losing a last-gasp thriller 94-92 at the hands of MKB Euroleasing Sopron and their oustanding player, Nikki Teasley.

A perfect 10-0 in the Czech Republic top flight, Gambrinus rarely lose on their court at the Rosnicka Hall.

Bobrovsky wants one last push before Christmas, when they can take a well-earned break.

"We are all looking forward to Christmas when my players will take a rest," he said.

"My players are very tired, physically and mentally, so it is very important to win against Gdynia at home and again in the next round away to Italian side Schio."
