Point guard Laia Palau has been a been success at Bourges but "misses the sunshine" and is set to return home to Spain to play for Ros Casares in Valencia.

"It's true I won't be staying at Bourges next season," Palau said to PA Sport.

		Palau has played a prominent role with the Spanish national team

"My wish is to return to Spain because I miss my family, my friends and the sun."

Palau averaged 13.5 ppg in the EuroLeague Women during her first season with Bourges in 2005 and followed that up by tallying 12.9 ppg, 4 apg and 2.1 spg this season. In both years, Bourges made it to the EuroLeague Women quarter-finals.

"I have been very happy at Bourges. They are a great team, and very professional and it's been a hard decision and I will miss them."

Palau has also been a solid contributor for the Spanish national team. In the 2004 Athens Olympics, Palau averaged 9.3 ppg in Spain's sixth place finish and a year later at EuroBasket Women, she tallied 7.8 ppg to help her country to the bronze medal.

The last time Palau played in Spain at the club level was with Universitat FC Barcelona in 2004.

Her arrival to Ros Casares will come at a much needed time. The club struggled this year, finishing with a 5-5 record in the EuroLeague Women qualification round and then bowing out to Dynamo Moscow in two games in the Eighth Finals.

In Spain's Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, Ros Casares were swept in the best of-three semi-finals by Universitat de Barcelona.
