Gambrinus Brno rolled to their third consecutive EuroLeague Women win this week with a 93-67 defeat of Italian side Familia Schio.
Brno, EuroLeague runners-up in 2005, have been one of Europe's most consistent sides in recent years, reaching the final four on five ocassions in the last six seasons.
However, the Czech side have yet to lift the trophy, and 2nd place in 2005 has been their best performance to date.
This season, Brno will be looking to benefit from the success of the Czech national team which won the gold medal at EuroBasket Women in September.
Featuring four players who played a key role in the national team's triumphant performance in Turkey, Brno will certainly be hoping that the momentum carries over to the club season.
Of Brno's four national team stars, Hana Machova was at the fore this week against Familia.
The 182 cm point guard was vital during the national side's gold-medal run at EuroBasket Women and is just as important for Brno. She racked up 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in Brno's win, enough to earn her player of the week honours.
Machova is used to garnering individual honours and was selected to the All-Tournament team at EuroBasket Women in 2005 and 2003. This season, however, she will be looking to add a team trophy to her collection, preferably that of the EuroLeague Women.
