Spanish international Marta Fernandez has signed a two-year extension to her contract at UB Barcelona.

The 1.78m forward, the MVP of the 2005-06 Liga Femenina campaign, said: "It's been a great atmosphere in the changing rooms and I hope it will continue like this for the next two seasons that I am here.

		Marta Fernandez played for Spain in the 2004 Athens Olympics.

"I've adapted really well in my two seasons here - with the team and with the fans - and I think the fact that my family is in this city has been crucial in my decision to stay at the club and I'm really happy."

Fernandez, 24, will represent Spain at the FIBA World Championship for Women this year in Brazil.

She averaged 11.5 ppg on Spain's bronze medal winning team at EuroBasket Women in 2005.

She hails from a basketball-playing family, with both of her parents having been professionals.

Her brother, Rudy Fernandez, plays for EuroCup champions DKV Joventut and is a member of the men's national side.
